It is a great camera, that served me very well. At first I bought as an everyday travel companion and was reluctant to use it for “serious” pictures to be put into commercial photo albums, but low and behold, it did perform rather well in this capacity. On a few occasions, after doing “preliminary” shots with this camera, I was discovering that no “serious” second shoot is needed – the photographs are perfect for our purposes as they are, and fully fit for quality A3 album. Yes, this small camera does not make you look like a “real pro”, but it is extremely versatile and easy to produce great photos with. The lens is nothing short of magnificent – sharp as almost the best prime glass at any price, good colors, very little distortion, very lightweight, and on top of that it even has some macro ability (though not anywhere close to dedicated macro lens). Save bird-watching it surprisingly works for a wide variety of subjects – landscapes, street and even still object photography. Resolution wise is starts to get close to the maximum real resolution one can get out of lens and sensor on any 35mm system; I even opted out at some point from upgrading to the IInd generation, since the gain was not that great in my opinion (though I also used a different, higher resolution camera for very large prints/details). Decent focusing, decent white balance, but the color accuracy I would say is somewhat less impressive when compared to truly “professional” DSLR systems, and with sensitive subjects might take some time in post-processing to improve. The camera produces very vivid and striking images though, with little to no tricks or post-processing. High ISO really depends on one’ tolerance for noise, I personally did find this camera quite useful for street photography at 3200 ISO. I am selling it because I am leaving 35mm format altogether. The chip on all these systems in my opinion is over-stretched to push sharpness, resolution, and the very extremes of the dynamic range, while in the middle, even with custom profiles, its hard to have complete control, and the kind of photography I do becomes very sensitive to proper lighting, color profiles etc.. The images looked “almost right” straight from the camera, but then hours and hours later they still were not exactly as in “real life”. Regarding the camera’s condition – I did not check the number of actuations, but judging by my archive it should be around 25,000, well below the 100,000 threshold where there might be some concerns. The glass is completely clear, no fungus, no scratches. The actual body is shown in the photographs. There is some level of wear, black paint becoming somewhat “dull” around the lens. While the camera build quality is overall good, I need to mention one issue – if it stays out of work for a few months, the aperture ring requires some extra force to move it around the first few times, but then it loosens up completely. For some reason that was the case from day one. I was never bothered enough to actually deal with it, and for me “do it yourself” lubrication is out of question with this system. I’ve upgraded and expanded the accessories over the years – added 60$ strap, which is much better than the default version, there are 2 batteries, and 2 extra chargers. Comes with a power adapter for charging in camera as well, same cable for connecting to a computer, the original box. The latest versions of drivers and software, as well as the manual are available on sony’s website. The camera is fully operational and ready to use, I will accept returns if you are not completely satisfied, 14 days moneyback with no questions asked. I am definitely not the most objective person here, but I really enjoyed my time with this camera, and I hope you will as well. Please check my other items – I am holding a moving sale!
